Smog Test - FAQs
Can you perform repairs if my car fails the smog test?
No. As a "Test Only" facility, we cannot perform any repairs or recommend any repair facilities.
Can you smog test a RV?
Yes! We could smog all vehicles, including RVs and diesel-engine cars.
Is the smog retest completely free?
The test is free, however, upon passing, you must pay for the Smog Certificate which is mandatory for vehicle registration renewals that require a smog test.
Can I make an appointment for a smog test?
No. We work on first come, first serve basis. Our express smog test could be completed in as little as 15 minutes.
How often do I need a smog check in California?
Most vehicles need a smog check every two years at registration renewal. If your vehicle is 8 model years or newer, you're usually exempt and pay a smog abatement fee instead. Your DMV renewal notice will always tell you whether a smog check is required this cycle.
My DMV notice says I need a STAR station. What does that mean?
It means the DMV has directed your vehicle to a certified STAR station like ours, usually due to your vehicle's test history or a random selection. STAR stations can test any vehicle; a regular smog shop cannot test a directed vehicle. We're STAR certified, so you're covered either way.
Auto Registration - FAQs
Do I need to do a smog test to utilize your Auto Registration service?
No! We welcome any walk-ins for your DMV Auto Registration needs. Please see our Services page for a list of vehicle registrations we perform.
Do you handle title transfers?
Yes! If you've sold or purchased a vehicle, we can process the title transfer on-site, no appointment needed. Walk in during business hours and we'll take care of it while you wait.
I lost my license plate. How long would it take to replace it?
During your visit! We could issue you a new license plate instantly.
If I renew my vehicle registration with you, is the permanent copy mailed to me?
No. The vehicle registration renewal you receive from us is the permanent, legal copy. DMV will not mail you another one.
Can you replace both the month and the year stickers?
Yes! Our facility carries both the month and the year stickers for the license plates.
I have an out-of-state registration. Can you help?
Yes! We are authorized to provide registration services for out-of-state vehicles. We can even issue CA license plates on-site!
